The Surge Key™ Trailer Brake Lockout Tool is a simple solution to one of the most frustrating problems with surge-brake boat trailers: the brakes engaging when you’re trying to back up.

When a surge-brake trailer is reversed, pressure against the coupler can compress the brake actuator and apply the trailer brakes. Normally, the trailer’s reverse lockout system prevents this—but electrical problems, tow-vehicle wiring differences, or other situations can leave you fighting locked trailer brakes when all you want to do is back the boat down the ramp.

The Surge Key gives you a simple mechanical solution.

Place the Surge Key into the appropriate position on the trailer's surge brake actuator before backing up. Its solid aluminum construction physically prevents the actuator from compressing far enough to engage the brakes, while integrated magnets help hold the tool securely in position.
